1985 年新潟県生まれ。立正大学文学部哲学科卒業後、外苑スタジオに勤務し、その後移住した長崎で出会った東松照明や無名の写真家たちとの交流を通して写真を学び、写真家としての活動を開始。現在は東京を拠点に活動。主な展示には「KYOTOGRAPHIE」（2015 年）、「東京国際写真祭」（2015 年）、個展「KAIKOO」 (Yuka Tsuruno Gallery、2021 年)、「VOCA 展 2021」(上野の森美術館、2021 年)、「第 14 回恵比寿映像祭」(東京都写真美術館、2022 年)、個展「ONSEN」(Taka Ishii Gallery Photography / Film、2024 年)を初め、ニューヨークのコンデナスト本社ビルでの展示など、国内外で作品を発表。主な作品集に『Tsugi no yoru e』（私家版、2013 年)、『ground』(lemon books、2014 年)、『RAMA LAMA DING DONG』(私家版、2015 年)、『Into the Light』(T&M Projects、 2017 年)、『Doors』(ギャラリー山谷、2020 年)、『ONSEN I』(flotsam books、2023 年)がある。
山谷 佑介 / Yusuke YAMATANI
Born in 1985 in Niigata, Japan. After graduating from the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Letters, Rissho University, he worked at Gaien Studio. He later moved to Nagasaki, where encounters with Shomei Tomatsu and several little-known photographers led him to pursue photography, eventually launching his career as an artist. He is currently based in Tokyo.
Major exhibitions include KYOTOGRAPHIE (2015), Tokyo International Photography Festival (2015), the solo exhibition KAIKOO (Yuka Tsuruno Gallery, 2021), VOCA Exhibition 2021 (The Ueno Royal Museum, 2021), The 14th Yebisu International Festival for Art & Alternative Visions (Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, 2022), and the solo exhibition ONSEN (Taka Ishii Gallery Photography / Film, 2024), as well as a presentation at the Condé Nast building in New York, among others in Japan and abroad.
